Introduction
The PCA9543A is a dual-channel bidirectional switch controlled by the I2C bus. The upstream SCL/SDA pair is extended to two downstream pairs, or channels. Based on the content of the programmable control register, either a single SCn/SDn channel or both channels can be selected. Two interrupt inputs (INT1 - INT0) are provided, with each interrupt input corresponding to one downstream pair. One interrupt output (INT) can serve as the AND operation result of the two interrupt inputs. An active-low reset (RESET) input enables the PCA9543A to recover when one of the downstream I2C buses remains low for an extended period. Pulling RESET low resets the I2C state machine and deselects both channels, which has the same effect as the internal power-on reset function. Due to the conducting gates on the switch, the VCC pin can be used to limit the maximum voltage that the PCA9543A will pass. This allows different bus voltages to be used on each pair, so that 1.8V, 2.5V, or 3.3V components can communicate with 5V components without any additional protection. For each channel, an external pull-up resistor pulls the bus voltage to the desired voltage level. All I/O pins are rated for 5.5V.
