Introduction
To complement Adafruit's accelerometer product line, we now offer the Analog Devices digital ADXL345 accelerometer — a 3-axis accelerometer with digital I2C and SPI interfaces. The onboard 3.3V regulator and logic level shifting circuitry make it ideal for interfacing with any 3V or 5V microcontroller such as Arduino. The sensor measures all three axes (X, Y, Z), with pins available for I2C or SPI digital interface. Sensitivity can be set to ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, or ±16g — lower ranges suit slow movements, while higher ranges enable high-speed tracking. Libraries are available for Arduino (C/C++) and CircuitPython (Python 3), compatible with microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP8266, and Metro, as well as Linux-based computers like Raspberry Pi. A SparkFun qwiic-compatible STEMMA QT connector is also included for solder-free connections. Each order includes one fully tested and assembled breakout board along with header pins for soldering to a PCB or breadboard, and features four 2.5mm (0.1") mounting holes for easy installation. The ADXL345 is a low-power, 3-axis MEMS accelerometer module with I2C and SPI interfaces, supporting four sensitivity ranges (±2G to ±16G) and output data rates from 10Hz to 3200Hz.
