Introduction
This user guide describes the features, operation, and usage of the TMAG5115 high-performance Hall-effect latch evaluation module (EVM). The EVM is designed to evaluate the performance of the TMAG5115. This document includes schematics, PCB layout, and a complete bill of materials (BOM). The TMAG5115 is a family of high-performance, wide input voltage, low output latency, and low jitter Hall-effect latch sensors. Designed to meet system challenges requiring higher magnetic precision, each device variant offers a different magnetic sensitivity. If the magnetic field strength exceeds B_OP, the output is pulled low; if the magnetic field strength falls below B_RP, the output is released. When the applied magnetic flux density drops below the magnetic release point (B_RP) threshold, the device output returns to a high voltage state. The TMAG5115EVM comes pre-installed with the TMAG5115B1 variant and is ready for out-of-the-box evaluation. Other variants are available as samples from www.ti.com. The TMAG5115 device operates over a VCC range of 2.5 V to 26 V and is available in a standard SOT-23 package. The TMAG5115EVM is an easy-to-use platform for evaluating the key features and performance of the TMAG5115. The EVM supports multiple device evaluation methods. The first provides users with quick visual feedback in the form of LED indication — the corresponding LED turns on or off when the device's B_OP and B_RP thresholds are crossed. Another method for evaluating the TMAG5115 is to use the EVM to commutate a brushless DC (BLDC) motor. The TMAG5115EVM follows the standard form factor of Hall-effect sensor boards used in various NEMA17 BLDC motors, meaning the EVM can directly replace these boards and evaluate device performance in this manner.
Features
- Standard sensor control board dimensions for direct replacement of most NEMA17 42-mm BLDC motors
- Includes handheld D3X8 magnet for manual testing
- LED feedback for quick determination of TMAG5115 output status
