Introduction
Each LED/photo sensor pair in this series consists of a GaAs infrared emitting diode and an NPN silicon phototransistor, housed in T-1 packages (OPS665, OPS666, OPS667) or matched side-looking clear plastic packages (OPS691, OPS692, OPS693, and OPS698). Matched pairs are ideal for unique applications where the required quantities do not justify the cost of assembly tooling. Proper alignment becomes critical when the distance between the LED and sensor exceeds twice the specified C(ON) distance. Although sold as paired products, the emitter and sensor are packaged separately for ease of handling. Note that the sensor is sensitive to ambient light.
