Introduction
The DigiPile TPiS 1S 1051 is a sensor from Excelitas Technologies' new digital thermopile infrared sensor series. It combines a time-proven MEMS advanced sensing element with a fully integrated A/D converter and an integrated ambient temperature sensor. The internal clock and control unit enable the TPiS 1S 1051 digital output detector to communicate with any external microprocessor without additional components. The transition from analog to digital gives the DigiPile numerous advantages, such as cost and space savings due to reduced component count (no external low-offset/low-noise amplifier required), and significantly reduced sensitivity to environmental influences such as humidity. The TPiS 1S 1051 is housed in a compact 3.0×3.0 mm² CLCC package with an IR transmission filter.
