Introduction
The APS12625 and APS12626 ICs are dual ultra-sensitive Hall effect latches optimized for use with ring magnets. They feature vertical and planar Hall elements with sensing axes orthogonal to each other, providing 90° phase separation. This phase separation is inherently independent of magnet pole pitch and air gap, requiring no target optimization, making them extremely flexible and convenient to use. For example, the pole pitch of the ring magnet can be changed without modifying the sensor position or other mechanical design details. In addition, XY, ZX, and ZY options are available, enabling operation in virtually any orientation relative to the target. The APS12625 provides speed and direction outputs, while the APS12626 provides quadrature outputs (A/B channels). A unique feature allows the host system to recover the correct state after a device power cycle (-P option), reducing the accumulated count/pulse loss that may occur when the device wakes up with one or more sensors within their hysteresis region. These devices incorporate on a single silicon die: three Hall plates (one planar and two vertical), a multiplexer, a small-signal amplifier, chopper stabilization, a Schmitt trigger, and two NMOS output transistors capable of continuously sinking up to 10mA. They operate from a regulated supply voltage of 2.8 to 5.5V and are qualified beyond AEC-Q100 Grade 0 requirements for operation at junction temperatures up to 175°C. The small geometry of the BiCMOS process enables these devices to be housed in an ultra-compact package. The package designator "LH" denotes an improved SOT23-W surface-mount package. The package is RoHS-compliant and lead-free, with a 100% matte tin-plated lead frame.
