TI TPS61500PWP

The TPS61500 is a monolithic switching regulator with an integrated 3A, 40V power switch. It is an ideal driver for high-brightness 1W or 3W LEDs. The device features a wide input voltage range, supporting applications where the input voltage comes from multiple batteries or 5V or 12V regulated power supply rails. The LED current is set via an external sense resistor R3, and the feedback voltage is regulated to 200mV through a current-mode PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control loop. The device supports LED brightness control through both analog and pure-PWM dimming methods. Connecting a capacitor to the DIMC pin configures the device for analog dimming, where the LED current varies in proportion to the duty cycle of the external PWM signal. Leaving the DIMC pin floating configures the device for pure-PWM dimming, where the average LED current is the duty cycle of the PWM signal multiplied by the set LED current. The device has a programmable soft-start function to limit inrush current during startup, and other built-in protection features such as cycle-by-cycle overcurrent limit, overvoltage protection, and thermal shutdown. The TPS61500 is available in a 14-pin HTSSOP package with PowerPAD.
