Introduction
ADS8686S is a 16-channel data acquisition (DAQ) system based on a dual simultaneous sampling 16-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. Each channel of the ADS8686S features a complete analog front end, including input clamping, 1MΩ input impedance, an independent programmable gain amplifier (PGA), a programmable low-pass filter, and an ADC input driver. The device also integrates a low-drift, high-precision voltage reference and a buffer for driving the ADC. With a flexible digital interface supporting serial, parallel, and byte communication, the device is compatible with a wide range of host controllers. The ADS8686S can be configured to accept ±10V, ±5V, or ±2.5V bipolar inputs and provides a 20% over-range option using a single 5V supply. The high input impedance enables direct connection to sensors and transformers, eliminating the need for external driver circuitry. The ADS8686S features a highly configurable channel sequencer that reduces sequencing overhead on the back-end controller or processor. With high performance, high accuracy, and zero-latency conversion, the ADS8686S is an ideal choice for a wide range of industrial applications.
