Introduction
OPA549 is a low-cost, high-voltage, high-current op amp suitable for driving a wide variety of loads. This laser-trimmed monolithic IC delivers excellent low-level signal accuracy along with high output voltage and current.
The OPA549 can be powered from a single or dual supply, with an extended input common-mode range that goes below the negative rail. It is internally protected against overtemperature and current overload conditions, providing a precise, user-selectable current limit. It senses the load indirectly, allowing a single resistor or potentiometer to adjust the current limit from 0A to 10A, or a voltage-output or current-output DAC for digital control.
The Enable/Status (E/S) pin serves two functions: monitoring it can determine whether the device is in thermal shutdown, and forcing it low disables the output stage to effectively disconnect the load.
The OPA549 comes in an 11-lead power package with a copper pull-tab that can be easily mounted to a heatsink for excellent thermal dissipation. Rated operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C.
