Introduction
The TPS6274x is a buck converter featuring a typical quiescent current of 360nA, designed to work with a compact 2.2μH inductor and 10μF output capacitor. The new DCS-Control™-based device extends light-load efficiency down to below 10μA load current. The TPS62740 supports up to 300mA output current, and the TPS62742 supports up to 400mA output current. It operates from rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, lithium-chemistry batteries (such as lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2), lithium manganese dioxide (Li-MnO2)), and two or three alkaline cells, with an input voltage range up to 5.5V. It can also be powered from a USB port or a thin-film solar module. Four VSEL pins allow the user to select the output voltage from 1.8V to 3.3V in 100mV steps. Using a small output capacitor, it features low output ripple voltage and low noise. When the battery voltage approaches the output voltage (near 100% duty cycle), the device enters ripple-free 100% mode to prevent output ripple voltage from increasing, then stops switching and connects the output directly to the input voltage. The integrated slew-rate-controlled load switch features a typical on-resistance of 0.6Ω and distributes the selected output voltage to temporarily used subsystems. Available in a compact 12-pin 2mm×3mm² WSON package with a total solution size of 31mm².
