Single-chip, single-supply interface for IBM PC/AT serial ports, provides ESD protection for RS-232 bus pins, meets or exceeds TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU v.28 standards, powered by 3V to 5.5V VCC supply, always-active noninverting receiver output (ROUT2B), designed for data rates up to 500kbit/s, low standby current: 1μA (typical), external capacitors: 4 × 0.1μF, accepts 5V logic inputs with 3.3V supply, designed as pin-compatible replacement for industry-standard '3243E devices, serial mouse drive capability, auto-powerdown feature disables driver outputs when no valid RS-232 signals are detected, available in Small Outline (DW), Shrink Small Outline (DB), and Thin Shrink Small Outline (PW) packages.
