EKM is the standard detection type, utilizing the 3rd generation PaPIRs with a preferred flat lens type for unobtrusive integration, featuring a lens diameter of 9.5mm. PaPIRs are pyroelectric infrared sensors capable of detecting infrared variations; however, detection may be unsuccessful in certain conditions, such as when a heat source lacks movement or exhibits no temperature change. Heat sources other than the human body may also be detected, and system efficiency and reliability may vary depending on actual operating conditions.

• EKM electrical characteristics (digital output type): total current consumption during detection = standby mode current consumption (Iw) + output current (I_OUT); for the 1μA type, average current consumption (Iw) in sleep mode is 1μA, and 1.9μA in standby mode
• EKM electrical characteristics (analog output): total current consumption during detection = standby mode current consumption (Iw) + output current (I_out); output offset voltage has a certain tolerance — measure offset voltage before setting upper and lower thresholds
• The 2μA / 6μA / 170μA digital output types have different circuit settling times: approx. 25 s (typical) for the 2μA type, max 10 s for the 6μA type, and max 30 s for the 170μA type
• The 1μA type (digital output) has sleep mode (output low, current consumption approx. 1μA), standby mode (after output reaches high state, current consumption approx. 1.9μA), and mask mode (period after standby mode ends during which output is forced low)
• The 170μA type (analog output) has a maximum circuit settling time of 30 s
• Digital output includes integrated amplifier and comparator; analog output includes integrated amplifier
