The ultra-low-power microcontrollers of the MSP430 series contain several devices with peripheral sets and can be widely used in various applications. This architecture, combined with multiple low-power modes, is the optimal choice for extending the battery life of portable measurement applications. The microcontroller has a powerful 16-bit Reduced Instruction Set (RISC) CPU, using 16-bit registers and a constant generator for maximum coding efficiency. This Digitally Controlled Oscillator (DCO) allows the device to wake up from low-power mode to active mode in 3.5µs (typical).
