Taoglas GGBLA.01.A

Taoglas has developed a unique ceramic micro loop antenna series for GPS - GLONASS - Galileo - BeiDou applications. The Unifier GGBLA.01.A loop antenna measures 3.2×1.6×0.5mm and is a miniature edge-mount chip antenna designed for space-constrained applications. Typical applications include compact automotive navigation or location tracking systems, as well as handheld devices requiring GNSS functionality.

The antenna's radiation pattern is more omnidirectional than conventional patch antennas. The wide bandwidth of the Unifier antenna series enables efficient, stable reception across all three GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou frequency bands from 1555MHz to 1602MHz.

Efficiency of 64% to 85% is achievable. The 3.3dBi peak gain places this antenna's gain performance within the range of larger 15mm to 18mm patch antennas.

Based on the loop effect, the antenna performs best when placed at the center edge of the PCB, but even when placed at a corner as an alternative, its performance still exceeds that of conventional linearly polarized chip antennas.

The Unifier GGBLA.01.A is available in tape-and-reel packaging, enabling M2M customers to deploy omnidirectional antennas in devices where product orientation is unknown. As with all small antennas, care must be taken to ensure proper device ground plane layout and antenna matching.
