The SS490 series are small, versatile linear Hall-effect devices driven by magnetic fields generated by permanent or electromagnets. The ratiometric output voltage is set by the supply voltage and varies proportionally with magnetic field strength. The integrated circuit improves temperature stability and sensitivity. Laser-trimmed thin-film resistors provide high accuracy (zero point error ±%, sensitivity up to ±3%) and temperature compensation. They respond to positive or negative Gauss magnetic fields, monitoring one or both magnetic poles. The quad Hall sensing element design minimizes the effects of mechanical or thermal stress on the output. The positive temperature coefficient of sensitivity (typical +0.02%/°C) helps compensate for the negative temperature coefficient of low-cost magnets, enabling robust designs over a wide temperature range. Rail-to-rail operation (covering the full voltage range) provides more usable signal for higher accuracy. These devices operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 150°C, suitable for industrial and automotive environments. The SS490B version offers an economy sensing solution with wider zero point error and sensitivity tolerances and broader temperature drift compared to the high-performance SS490A. Both the SS490A and SS490B versions feature 1.5 mA continuous typical sink or source current output, consume 7 mA supply current at 5.0 V and 25°C, and deliver predictable performance across the entire temperature range. To provide design flexibility, these products are available in the following flat TO-92 package styles: straight standard lead bulk, straight long lead bulk, formed lead tape-and-reel, straight standard lead tape-and-reel, surface mount bulk, and surface mount bagged tape.
